Camille LaCroix, MD, DFAPA is a founder of the University of Washington Boise Psychiatry Residency and is grateful and inspired to continue working with trainees and graduates of the program. She is an Idaho native and former Idaho WWAMI student and passionate about increasing access for Idahoans to expert psychiatric services.

Dr. LaCroix is board certified in both psychiatry and forensic psychiatry and is the owner/operator of Forensic Psychiatry Services of Idaho PLLC, which was founded in 2008. Dr. LaCroix does expert forensic consultation in a variety of civil and criminal matters throughout Idaho and the northwest. Dr. LaCroix’s passion and areas of interest are in the use of forensic psychiatric expertise to assist in resolving individual legal matters as well as improve systems in the State of Idaho. She has worked to reform the death penalty in Idaho for individuals with mental health disorders, on access to quality competency to stand trial assessments as well as education of the legal community on various topics to increase the standard of legal practice in Idaho.

Dr. LaCroix has practiced is a Veteran and served as a psychiatrist in the United States Navy and worked as a locum tenens psychiatrist in the California Department of Corrections while waiting to start forensic fellowship. She was a staff psychiatrist at the Boise VAMC for 6 years and then for 12 years taught primary care telepsychiatry and collaborative care via an innovation grant and partnership with Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center and rural partners in Idaho.

Dr. LaCroix is the Forensic Curriculum Director for the residency program in addition to supervising residents in a forensic elective rotation. She lectures locally and nationally on various topics including testamentary capacity, criminal defense topics, forensic private practice and psychiatric topics related to her experience as a United States Navy and VA Psychiatrist.

Dr. LaCroix is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the University of Washington Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a longstanding member of the Private Practice Committee of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law. She was the first female President of the Idaho Psychiatric Association and serves on several local non-profit Boards as well as on the Idaho Bar Association Character and Fitness Committee.

Dr. LaCroix is also the part-time medical director of BPA Health, a Boise-based company that provides a variety of mental health and well-being services to Idaho employers, students and families.
